Strange problems are happening with some STC AFAQ DSL Shamil servers. It used to happen on some websites depending on your IP address. But now there is a problem with all HTTP connections on some of STC servers. You can still ping but no HTTP access.
Check your IP address from your DSL modem admin page or simply visit this website (but since you are offline then this site will be useless). If your IP address is one of the following: 94.99.119.* / 94.99.22.* / 94.99.117.* (there are others but those are the ones that I confirmed) simply disconnect and reconnect and you will get a new IP address. I have confirmed that the following IP addresses work: 77.31.250.* / 77.30.90.* / 94.97.48.*.
STC as usual isn’t helping. How can you tell them that some of their proxy servers (I assume) are broken. Just keep those IP numbers in mind.

and charged me 1mb they mention there will be no installation fee for SAR 300 .BUT THEY ARE CHARGING IT .

I purchased STC DSL Card from Internet. The payment was made on the same day. Its one week now and there is no username and password yet. I called 15 times and spoke to different agents who unfortunately cannot understand my problem. The worst Customer support and worst Service from the only telecom provider.

I am using their service and it’s working just fine. I also have the package of Joud broadband and i am enjoying it! Make sure your lines are compatible before asking for the service and that should resolve the issue.

i’m living in jubail. i have called 907 last sept. 2. the agent told me that my appointment with technician will be on sept. 5. i’m glad someone called me but when i met the person he told me he’s only setting up dsl to the computer. he even asked me if there’s already a technician came. i told him nobody came yet. so the other day, i called 907 again to follow up my application and they told me on sept. 8 would be another appointment but it’s frustrating that nobody even called me that day. This morning, a technician called me and asking what’s the problem. i told him, ive got already a phone number but still no installation of wires / phones and setting up a dsl to my laptop… it’s very frustrating about STC’s services… its a week since my first call of application and until now i dont get any installation. i might go to mobily for there broadband connection this weekend… i will update you if they will connect my stc’s dsl…

STC isnt bad at all. STC is better than any other ISP. STC is fast. you know why? Because every ISP here in the Kingdom gets connection from them or at least they are paying STC for the lines. Anyway, what sucks about STC is their customer service. it takes forever to get someone to pickup the phone and you are not sure if your need will be taken cared of.

Does anybody knows the correct user name and password to access the settings of the sagem modem model 006? Need to apply some wifi restrictions. Got all settings sent thru sms but nothing seems to work. Talked to 907 agent and followed all instructions and got the same result.

Just switched to Afaq Shameel and I always got this “looking up www.***.com” for a few seconds and finally the browser failed to load the page. This happens every few minutes. Any ideas? Or anybody with the same problem? Btw, I have done the DNS flushing both on my Windows machine and the Mac. Restarted the modem but after few moments the same thing happened again.

I have exactly the same problem. When connected two windows machine to Afaq Shamel, as soon as I wirelessly connect macbook pro to it, the DSL stops and I have to reset the modem for it to start again on the Windows machine. Don’t understand why it doesn’t work on a mac though. Any suggestions?

sounds like you have a problem with the dsl filter/splitter
change it and buy a good one
and please make sure u connect modem to where it says modem and phone means telephone and line means the actual line coming from outside…

Alam, Iam not sure if your problem is solved. R U using a Cordless telephone at home? If yes, check the frequency of your cordless telephone and change the “channel” settings on your modem. This should solve the problem. If you are not using a cordless telephone the suggestion by badabingbadaboom should help.

well dear try to enter into your modem and in port mapping disable the radio button as by default they have configured port 3&4 to work with IP TV. by disabling it all your four ports will work as normal….

well this username and password is for your Modem GUI. it is not for the wireless. more over you can put your own securities on the modem in order to prevent of being miss use by unknow users.

I found out that the problem I faced with my STC Afaq DSL Shamil was the results of bad wires connection on my home telecoms there fore I renew those wires by professional technicians who used fiber wires which improve speed & on going connect

well best way is to change wireless channel for your modem try channel # 6 as it is usually the strongest one or channel 13. normally in closed area like home it covers 20 to 30 meters and in open area should cover above 50 meter easily. give it a try and see

Has anyone been told that the reason for there shamil service to not work is due to having a Linksys Modem??? That is what i have been told from STC. I had Awalnet Prepaid before amd it was fine with my linksys modem. And if it is the modem (model:WAG200G) could a software update work? Or do i have to buy a new modem to get this service?

Encapsulation: RFC 2516 PPPoE
Multiplexing: LLC
QoS Type: UBR
PCR: leave it blank
SCR: leave it blank
Autodetect: Enable
DSL Modulation: Multimode
User Name: As provide from stc
Password: As provide from stc
in the last option select time zone: Kuwait and Riyadh
and save it

i am using afaq-shamel and it’s working good, my problem is my wife gave me a new laptop from canada, i tried using it but when i was trying to connect it, it says “THE NETWORK AFAQSHAMEL REQUIRES A NETWORK KEY(ALSO CALLED A WEP KEY OR A WPA KEY) A NETWORK KEY HELPS PREVENT UNKNOWN INTRUDERS FROM CONNECTING TO THE NETWORK.” My question is where will i get the WEP key. i checked the net it says it’s written on the router but i tried but to no avail. A network key is the same as your wireless password.
you can retrieve your network key on other machines
just go to that wireless connection properties on that other machine then go to the security tab. then there will be an option to show characters. then it will reveal it.

hi,
i have been trin to set up my ps3 connection and i am getting wireless connection and connected as well. but when i do internet connection test it comes up with a msg as “the router in use may not support ip fragments. it may not play some of the games. please contact your router manufacturer”. btw i am using sagem fast 2804 stc.
any help is much appreciated.

I have the same problem.I have not yet found the solution.I also have Sagem fast 2804 .It might be the router because my friend has the same connection as I do (STC 4mbps) but his router is different :Huawei HG520S.In his case the message”not support Ip fragments…” does NOT come.
It also gives the SPEED on ps3 after passing NAT 2.The difference is apparent when he plays Fifa 10 online on ps3 with almost no lag while mine lags like hell.And both have 4mbps STC connections.How sad is that.
I have looked all over the net but cannot find a solution.It irritates me as the reason I got 4mbps was so that I could play Fifa online smoothly.So if you have found any way to solve this please do let me know and ill try vice versa.

Why Afaq_Shamel connection with 4Mbps does not have internet browsing when you connect Desktop Pc to RJ45 (Ethernet port) but if I used wireless (WIFI) connection the internet browsing was fine..
The DSL modem admin page displayed that my connection was 4Mbps but still if i have connected DESKTOP PC to AFAQ_SHAMEL model (((stc modem 006(Sagem – F@ST™ 2804STC))…
Can anyone feedback a comment why it does not have browser when i used UTP cable cat 5e.. I assure that there is no RFI or EMI that block the signal also I check to the desktop PC it shows 4.6Mbps internet connection.
The desktop Pc connected to the DSL model of STC has YM but no browser..

Make sure you plug the RJ 45 on ethernet port 1 since it is the only port active. the remaining ports are not..

STC AFAQ SHAMEL EXPERIENCE.
Day 1.Nov 15. I called 907 from our company gate to apply a STC 4mbps Afaq Shamil DSL line.
The customer service is very friendly he take IQAMA no. and for a few minutes he gave me my phone number : 01499xxxx and he said within 72 hrs a STC technician will call me.
Day 4. Nov 18, after 72 hrs of working time. no STC technician called me. I called 907 hotline to follow up my application, He again said to me that they have some technical problem in our area applied internet service will most probably fixed by next week.
Day 14. Nov 29 I follow up again my application, again he said after the holiday(Eid) will surely installed my connection.
Day 30. Dec 13. I received a txt message from Afaqshamel and said my Tel number is 01499xxxxx
Username: xxxxxxxxxxxxx@4092afaqe2.comxxxxxxx
Password : xxxxxxxx
Day 32. Dec 15. Again I received a txt from STC date date of Installation andthe technician who will install my connection.
Day 33 Dec 16. 7:30pm STC Technician came he check my phone line status from the STC box outside the gate. Then he gave me only the modem. He only check the dial tone of the line and finished. HE DID NOT INSTALLED THE CONNECTION LINE.
Day 34.Dec 17 I go to batha buy telephone wire cable (200m) about 60 Riyal.
Day 35. Dec 18. After installing wire cables, and phone checking I directly installed the fashness installation CD on my laptop. But no to avail, a very big problem after installing the STC software in my deck. An error occurred showing use only supplied cable in the unit. What seems to be the problem? The DSL line signal is blinking. It should be stable. No Internet connectivity signal in the modem. I acess to the the url address 192.168.1.1 for model 2006. I access the router using user-user username/psswrd only status checking but I cannot configure it. I call STC hotline 907 and followed voice instruction, they txt me the user/password and the configuration but again no to avail… This STC company sucks! Very poor service. To much expensive service cost. Until now I don’t have an Internet connection. Can somebody answer my question here?
How can I synchronize my DSL signal to my router? And How I configure it by my self?

buddy instead of writing your Afaqshamel biography just say Help and really someone will be glad to assist you. any how try to connect your modem with ethernet cable supplied with the modem. type 192.168.1.1 on your browser, type user: Afaq_Shamel

main page of modem will come configure your user & pws provided by STC through SMS. and thats it. if still there is problem provide me your Cell # and i will assist you on it…..

You really have a big problem.It must be the STC that should install your connection at the very first start of your subscription.How could u connect the cable from the box outside and set-up the connection on your PC when u don’t know all the settings there, right?Lucky for me because the guy who installed my connection really came back after he check my box then set-up the connection on my laptop.But still, my connection got down already twice.Good for me because it was working fine up to now.

Afaq Shamel is having DNS failures recently. i’ve notice that skype is logging in, yahoo messenger is logging in but not the websites that i usually visit likef facebook and others are sites and keeps on getting error 404 or it takes sometime to pull them up. anyway, i searched for the solution and i found out that you can change the DNS server on your Afaq Shamel modem.
Use this one as your primary DNS: 4.2.2.2
and 8.8.8.8 as your secondary.
anyhow,
I want to know if portforwarding and Buying a static IP for residential accounts is possible for Afaw Shamel. Sad to say but, STC Tech support really sucks and most of the time they only have average knowledge about DSL.
I hope someone here can answer my question.

well yes you can use portforwarding in afaqshamel modem. that doesnt mean you need static ip from them… and for your information they only provide to company account @ the cost of 1 IP = SR 100…. there is another way out. go to Dyndns.com and register an account with them. you will be able to ge free DDNS from there which you will configure on your modem. what it will do is every time your modem reconnects to internet it will asign new ip and that dynamic ip will update with your Dyndns Account. after that you can use portforwarding, remote desktop or what ever.
now i will come to the irritating part…. one Afaqshamel Modem 006 there is a problem. when you configure the settings it works perfect but whenever it restart, DDNS doesnt work. i checked setting also to see if configration changed or missing but all ok in it. i tried with other (linksys, 3com) modem and it works gr8 only problem with stc modem. i called them alot for there help on it as i know this is a problem in there firmware but no one there that much technical who can understand my point. so give it a try on your modem and see what u find later.

it seems that you r new to portforwarding issue. let me be very simple. portforwarding with the help of DDNS is a uniqe way to connect two or more then two different dynamic networks behind routers. like i use ip Camera at my home for monitoring from my office. portforward is a secure way to connect using different ports. for example i need to connect to my IP camera with DDNS, i will asign external port 3000 and 500 as internal port to connect from router to camera..
technically “http://name.dyndns.org:3000″. not that i configured my ip Camera to listen on port 500 from internal network. also note that u cant not use port 80 as it is asigned for browsing..

I have a DVR in LAN, and want to access it outside i.e on internet. I know that it can be done using port forwarding and my AfaqShamel does support it. I see it under Advanced settings -> Advance setup -> NAT -> port triggering -> Add
now i dont understand what port numbers to add. moreover, dont i need to add the ip address of my DVR in these router settings?
After all the required settings, what url should i use to access DVR on internet.
Any kind of help will be appreciated.

I think u guys are using version 006 sagem version adsl modem. in this modem there is a bug with Upnp feature. so just login the router and go to advanced setup in that click lan. in that there is one check box named Enbale Upnp. Just Uncheck that box and save and reboot modem. then the DSL works normally. try it and reply me………No need to buy any SIP………….

This is a big help to the subscribers because we don’t know that our connection is being steal by other people who are hackers of signals. Please let me know. Hi All,
I have a Afaq Shamel DSL connection and was connecting through wireless LAN.It was working until by mistake I pressed on reset button on the modem.
I tried enabling Access Point and changing my WPA key by logging on to http://192.168.1.1/. But my wireless is not working.However my LAN connection is working and even the WLAN LED is glowing.
Can anyone please help me in resolving this?

Dear Brother I m having a problem with Afaq Shamel i tooked a link of 4 Mb and i was very much happy till 3 days and later on i got a problem when i m trying to check the speed i got a result of 248 KBPS per second out of 4 Mb and the uploading speed if 21 KBPS per second i have tried to call STC support team to look in to this matter but no reply if any one of you is having a direct number for STC where i can call and put up my problem.
This is too much that i have a link of 4 Mb and getting not ever 25% of that link if this is a shared link then what the ratio of this link is it 1/4 or 1/8 or 1/16.
As per the speed i m getting it shows that its been shared in 1/16 ratio which is too much they are simply cheating with us no matters if it is of 1/4 or 1/8 atleast i will get 512 KBPS with 1/8.

logon to your modem and see what is your connecting speed up stream and down stream. if u see it as 4096 as down and 400+ as up, them there is no problem with your dsl line. more over call 8002444455 for complaints…

I’ve had DSL Shamel 4mb installed on Dec.13 and it has been working well so far. Maybe the areas differ in service/performance, but I’m in Khobar and its been consistent in speed (between 3-4mb, sometimes even tops 4mb with Speedtest).
The STC modem (made in Tunisia) is connected to a router (USR 5461) which is connects to 2 PCs and a wireless laptop. I use the wireless function of the router, NOT the STC wireless, so it works fine that way. You only have to input the routers security key to use the wireless connection, not STCs.
So far its better than Mobily’s broadband, and Speedtest.net always shows good performance is consistent with a 4mb connection. However, downloads from file sharing sites (ie, Rapidshare, others) is slower than other sites. I think they are capping downloads from those sites to lessen congestion.
I am thinking of going DSL Shamel Max which they say goes up to 20mb speed. But I have seen others from a few months ago saying it only gets up to 7mb speed. Dont know if its changed or improved since, but is anyone using the MAX service?

Yesterday the downstream connection speed was 3652, latter it was 3488 and today its 2240…..unbelievable.
You are saying that you are getting 4 mbps speed (speedtest.net), of course you’ll get that speed if you test with STC. Test with some overseas server and then tell the speed
One thing I can say is 512 kbps was better than this 4 mbps….

They say “STC-Life easier” its actually the other way round…….it should be “STC-Life Miserable”.
The worst ever customer service in the area.
I must say you can expect wrong bills, undue charges and pathetic customer support by STC, where 80% agents don’t simply understand what you are requesting for. Would you believe I requested Jood broad band service 4 MB and was promissed for installation in 2 days and its 26th day now and no one showed up yet and I have called 907 more than 50 times in these days, and their complaint office at 800444455 more than 4 times and every time i am told “Buqra inshAllah”…….So I guess we all should just enjoy the fruit of Saudization. Gone the days when professionals were taking care of STC.
I wish they could know what does a customer mean…..

im using AFAQ SHAMIL 006 modem 4mb speed(SO SAID).now wat my internet disconnect afer every 10 min for last 3 weeks.i told and complaint more than 20 times but no answewr.only one time an unprofessional technician came and said all is ok no problem.then some one on 907 told you have no cat5 or cat6 cable.ok i will purchase this today but the net was working for last 3 months normally now wat problem it disconnect after every 10 min and i have subscription of 4mb.but my speed seems to be 56kb dialup.STC is very unprofessional in its service,the technician say we are responsible for only modem and no wires,but they should tell us wat kind of wire and where to buy and how to fix.

at last STC has removed the message for linksys and now they support linksys. This is the only modem if you have a problem you call 800 number and you get support for a dedicated call center for linksys gateways an router. Good job Linksys Cisco

I “upgraded” my 4mb DSL Shamel to 8mb, but somehow rather than getting that, I completely lost my connection. Cant even connect. This after inputting the new 8mb user name/pw. Spoke to 3 different people at STC and they didnt have a clue.
I have a Sagem 006 modem and the green internet light is off. In the diagnostic tests, it says I do not have a valid IP address from the PPP server. I tried inputting some of the old IP numbers as a static IP, but nothing seems to work.
Anyone have an idea?

the “8M” in your username is not accepted by your modem, instead it ask you to input the integer (number value) of 8M, unlike the 4mb uses 4096 (1024 x 4). the 8192 for 8M is not accepted. so if i were you, use your old username and password (it grants you access only) because the 8mbps connection is controlled by the computer at the STC station and check it again with the http://www.speedtest.net. if you call the call center, they will tell you same old explanation…

I have DSL 4mb with STC.(Internet Cafe with 10 Computers using though Hub). Now more than two weeks, Internet connection is OK, but Pages cannot open, down and up speed are slow for sometimes. Some times work properly? I Power off for more than 10 minutes and power on, Wan Ip changes and working properly. But after 20 minutes again I cannot open Pages. Why it happen like this, Any problem with SERVER?

try to change the dial up method of your modem configuration from auto to On Demand… changes in wan ip address is normal because this ip address is needed so that your computer can access the internet. be sure you are using dhcp mode

Is your download speed 572 KB/s? Then it is good enough. Download speeds are measured in kilobytes per second. Goto speedtest.net, and check your speed. If it is near 4000kilobits/s, then it’s fine.
4mbps = roughly 512kiloBYTE/s download speeds.
572kbps will equal roughly 55kilobyte/s which is quite slow for a 4mbps connection.

anyone..please help me with predicament:
I have been applying for STC DSL & that was last year until now I still don’t have an INTERNET & don’t have a telephone line. But when I inquired thru their 907 STC had already charged me with 3,300.00 Saudi Riyal.
I went to the STC Office twice and twice they have told me to pay first before they cancel. Which means if they will not cancel my account will continously add up into which I have not using the telephone line.
My question is:
1.WHAT will happen to me if won’t be able to pay that bill?
2.HOW can I be able to cancel that telephone account?
How will I pay something that I haven’t yet consumed?
I am an expat here in Saudi with a small salary…..Please help me …

i guess there’s somebody who used your name or maybe they know your IQAMA #-this is their primary requirements in applying STC line..i guess you have to check it with the STC company esp the form that you supposed to be signed after they have connected you with STC line..prove to them that its not your signature at all..or as they say you can pay it in installment but be sure to suspend first the connection while u are paying the bill to make it stop then after apply for the cancellation..i hope my suggestion can help u

Hi,
When ever i tried to register in STC.com.sa for individual registration for my land line phone, it fails saying that the mobile/STC phone is not under my name. So avoided my mobile number and gave only my STC land line number ( PS- my mobile number is mobily number … i dont know why STC doesnt take it …). it said your registration details are saved please call 907 for confirmation for the registration. I called 907, they said send an email to ecare@STC.com.sa. I sent an email on Jan 25th, but no response from them. Can some one help me on this ??? what should i do to register with STC online ??

Ask a Saudi colleague at work or your company’s govt affairs dept to contact STC. Have all the details ready and any paperwork, bills that you may have. Or go to the STC office and ask to speak to the manager. I myself noticed that when asking for a service (DSL or phone line) that was not installed, they may charge you for it. But when giving them the facts, they should cancel the charges. They may be more intimidated by a Saudi client who calls them and complains than a foreigner. Hence I suggest to ask any Saudi you may know to help you out on this.

actually i want to say afaq shamel is best service. I’m at 8mbps plan. Getting 900kbps on downloads at latency is 10~20ms. Its good for online games too. I love the service. My routes say downstream: 8191kbps upstream: 509kbps.

guys don’t subscribe for dsl max from site they’ll not give you 20mbps. They’ll set anything from 8 to 16. Get 20mbps by calling 906. And one thing more. If you are not getting full speed, download internet download manager. It’ll give full speed. My standard downloader windows one give only 100kbps download rate but using IDM I was getting 890kbps.

Ask to speak to the branch manager or the highest official there. Also type a letter to the president of STC explaining your situation. And that the practice of refusing to do anything while the bill is accumulating despite your request to disengage the line is very bad business ethics (if not illegal) and will only hurt the reputation of STC. Also send a copy of that letter to Arab News and write a letter to them explaining your predicament. Shaming STC in the media will bring this to the attention of the highest officials and I know will embarass them, but may be a slow process unfortuantely. So make sure to first speak directly to the branch manager of STC. SOMEBODY there will realize sooner or later that they will look like idiots when it goes up to the highest levels and eventually will reverse their actions.

Dear all,
My DSL was disconnecting frequently and having 2MB speed, I was using Linksys N, I have called many time to STC but couldn’t solve the problem, then one of my friend told me who is working in STC to change the modem to STC modem 006, thats it… my problem is solved and it is working perfectly. Accually Linksys is no more compatible with DSL configuration… even if you call 907 the answering machine is also asking to replace Linksys to any other modem.

I purchased AFAQ SHAMEL 4mbps regular broadband last October 2009 for 249 S.A.R. monthly. Last month I have to pay 990 S.A.R., this is my bill from December 2009 to January 2010. They told me that I purchased JUD PLUS 399 S.A.R per month. Now If i really purchased JUD PLus for 399 riyal per month,why is it that i need to pay them 990 riyal for 2 months?
Here’s the logic:
JUD PLUS PER MONTH = 399 S.A.R.
JUD PLUS FOR 2 MONTHS = 399 S.A.R * 2 months
= 798 S.A.R
I paid them 990 so 990 – 798 = 192 S.A.R
Where did 192 riyal came from? 907 agent told me that SHAMEL JUD PLUS has a limited mobile call. it doesn’t make any sense…

there was something wrong in the settings……………cant remember what it was but if i did not use the net for like 10 mins it wudnt open any site and i had to restart my modem.
Get ur settings chked by a professional either take it to their office or if you are in jeddah take it to their compound in Nuzlah.

Why would it be 454? Its 244, at least thats what I was paying for 4mb. But 8mb is available now for 266, I switched to that. No point in 4mb if 8mb is only sr22 more.

guys, STC sucks thats a fact but we don’t have to rely on the am currently using ITC services. in their explanation they somehow provide STC with access to internet. at least thats what they have on their web site. the service is called zoom wimax with 333 SR aprox. you’ll get a real 1MB with a download rate no less than 1MB n upload of around 512KBS..
web is http://www.itc.net.sa i swear their the best in the gulf area but unfortunately limited coverage as the don’t rely on landlines. the also have ADSl cards but i won’t recommend it.

YAHHOOOO!!! I could login to my modem configuration page after 10 months for the first time, i changed my WiFi key. I chose WPA-PSK and TKIP, i was wondering if WPA2-PSK would give added security?

if i were you guys, apply now for 8mbps afaq shamel for 266sr.. BUT it will takes you almost 1 month and a half to install the line and a dsl modem. its very fast up to 14mbps during off peak. once the dsl technician (be sure its a FILIPINO GUY because he will explain you everything and also how to configure the modem) comes into your home, ask him to check first the attenuation and noise ratio of your connection from the STC Cabinet (located on streets)through his handheld gadjet.if ok, you will enjoy the fast connection. STC is making improvements now in their dsl services..s

for those who using the stc modem who cant access the login window of the modem… i found out the modem brand echolife was made by huawei – a very good brand… try the static ip address instead of dhcp..
click –> network connections – right click local area connections–> click properties –> a new window appears click the name internet protocol (tcp/ip)and click properties button.. then input these number

click OK
open internet explorer and type this address

I live in Faisalia Dist in Jeddah and had requested DSL Connection 1 year ago before 4 months STC called me and said they can connect Wireless Afaq Shamil,
& i got the line connected.Last month they contacted again and said Now the DSL Land Line is ready to be connected and the line got connected. i am using this for my personal use at home not office. I am trying to disconnect the Wireless connection and each time i phone they insist that i should come to their office and give in writing to disconnect the line.When they connected wireless connectioni have not given a written request to STC nor for the DSL Land line how come i have to go to their office & Request for disconnection? i do not understand this requirement? and they have charged both for wireless as well as DSL landline? also the modem charges have been charged where as it is announced that free modem? When i discussed in the office our friends say it is not necessary to go to STC office only by the same telephone you can request for disconnecting the Wireless line? can some body help and tell the correct thing inorder to disconnect the wireless DSL Connection? I subscribe to AFAQ Wireless and supplied by STC a HUAWEI e960 Router. The default admin password is also admin. I have changed the admin password long time ago and now want to access administrative settings on my router but cant provide the correct password. @swastika its the same dns though. sometimes it has low speed and needed to reconnect to gain speed. stc has dns problem now that browser cant connect. hope they find solution for this issues as i manually input their dns server and suffer for their low latency and low download rate as my connection speaks 8mbps

Tariq, reset your modem then use the cd of the Modem to set up and configure. Upon configuring / setting, there’s a portion that will ask your username and password. The problem is after you set up your modem using the cd, is how to set up and configure your modem using http://192.168.1.1

The great STC never fails at annoying its customers even thou they pay for their internet which never see,s to work properly.
I called daily trying to get a hold of an agent to help me out, but it seems the line is always busy! Then when I email them about my problem I get the most simplistic response as if a five year old was replying to my email.

I have a 4mb connection before and upgraded it to 8MB. Before, I have the same problem as yours. I reset the modem by myself and tried some suggestions that I read on this column. After I tried some of it, the connection is fast and good. IF still there’s a problem, it’s much better if you can ask the help of STC technician. I recommend Filipino Technician because he will explain to you clearly how to configure or reset your modem not like other nationality that after installing your modem and connection, nothing will be the next.

Use your Username and Password that STC sent you thru SMS in configuring the modem using http://192.168.1.1 . I tried it at home. Configuring the STC Modem is not easy if you are not familiar with it but if the configuration succeed, you will have a good and fast connection. Try some suggestions that you can read in this column.

i tell for 1mb and he give me but after a week when i turn on my modem a light name (ADSL) flashing and no internet connection i check my bill he told me 616 SAR now what i do pay bill or not i think i pay but its very bad they are thief man
