Dell has launched their ultra thin notebook, the Adamo in Saudi Arabia this week. The notebook is similar in many ways to the Apple MacBook Air. Prices in Saudi Arabia start at 9,500SR ($2,500). The Dell Adamo was launched last week in UAE in a press event while the Saudi Arabia “launch event” was in Jarir Bookstore. Dell Saudi Arabia also decided to copy the UAE event by hiring, uh, “models”?
Please Dell, why don’t you fix your keyboards first? Instead of having two guys in a very weird dress. Is that supposed to be a thobe? It’s NOT! This is how a thobe supposed to look like! Not having a stupid line on it like that just to have the Dell name on it! Look at the models used in the UAE launch event, but don’t look too much
. Their outfit doesn’t have the word “Dell” on it.
Finally, Dell should have a real press event in Saudi Arabia. You have a Saudi headquarter, don’t you?
Anyway those Dell Adamo machines are found in Jarir “Bookstores”. Just don’t mind the crappy keyboard print found on all Dell notebooks in the Middle East.

That’s funny
I think it’s a bit awkward when they at these events just assume that they should roll out women (Sony did to at the WE5 launch, etc.) but I must admit seeing guys doing it seems wrong

Wicked!
I love the costume, you can’t beat having a Jedi advertise a laptop for you, don’t you?
What’s with the keyboard ? is it like aftermarket fabricated laser print or something?

Jedi? Cute. That’s another way of looking at it, but men doing it is so wrong. Imagine the cultural impact for generations to come.
As for the keyboard, no, its worse than that.
Here is an example: bought a Vostro 1510 (my last Dell ever, and the last time I ever make a Dell choice with my money or somebody else’s). The machine shipped with the wrong keyboard, not wrong for the region, but the bottom line of the keyboard was mismatched. Of course, out of the box, you don’t get this, that is until you upgrade your firmware to the latest.
Google a bit and the horror stories emerge. What is ironic is that I bought this specific Vostro 1510 at my personal expense to replace a work HP that was dying so that I would not have to wait two weeks.
With the keyboard issue, I ended waiting 3 weeks before I could use the bloody thing. The machine performs and feels way better than an HP, but the service behind is not really there (more like non-existent).
So I say stop buying Dells, let the sales slide big time so that Dell realizes that basic quality is NOT an option.
