Turn off your machines for an hour next Saturday March 27th at 8:30pm local Saudi Time. This is the first year Saudi Arabia officially joins the “Earth Hour” move. I will be participating in “Earth Hour Riyadh 2010″ as well.
From Arab News: “Lights are expected to be switched off in major cities including Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam from 8.30 to 9.30 in the evening. A number of government departments and private sector companies are also taking part.”

The Saudi MCIT (don’t mind the design) will be hosting a 2 day seminar on PKI (Public key infrastructure). The seminars will be for 2 days starting tomorrow the 15th to the 16th of December 2009. The seminar will be titled “Experiences, Opportunities and Challenges in PKI”.

A BarCamp is an international network of user generated conferences. The first Saudi BlogCamp will be held in Jeddah tomorrow July 2nd 2009 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and starting at 10am (7am GMT). It is organized by the Saudi BarCamp.
Saudi BlogCamp 2009 will include presentations by Saudi bloggers Khaled Al-Nasser, Ahmed Al-Omran, Essam Al-Zamel and Fouad Al-Fahran.
There will also be a live blogging as well as a ustream page on this page (sorry for the long URL, Arabic permalinks should be avoided).

CodeBetter is a group of programmers who want to “raise software quality in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through sharing best practices related to different Application Lifecycle phases. Community target will be initially Microsoft technologies focus, upon the member’s feedback it can be stretched to other different technologies.”

They are having a CodeBetter June Public Event on Thursday, June 25th 2009 1:00PM at Al-Yamama University, Riyadh. Visit the event page for directions because as we know Google maps for Saudi Arabia is useless. The event will also introduce Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF) for Agile Software.
